Operation Future believes it is much easier to keep children out of gangs than it is to rescue them once they are trapped in the gang lifestyle.

Many youth find themselves attracted to the gang lifes style, this is a lifestlye that modern media commonly portrays as exciting, romantic, attractive and a substitute family.  Operation Future dedicates many hours speaking to our youth about the realities of gang life.  Still many of our youth radiate towards this lifestyle.

Operation Future believes that we have to not only educate our children about the realities of gang life but provide them with a genuine alternative.  This alternative is right here in St Kitts and Nevis, the culture and country offer so much more to our youth than the inferior gang culture.  However, many of our youth never get to see the splendor of their own country and culture.

The goal of Discovery Club is to introduce our youth to the magnificant country and culture in which they live.  Also to introduce them to challenges, such as the climbing of the Nevis Peak, successfully accomplishing these challenges will instill confidence in these children.  Furthermore, by spending time with the youth we are letting them know that they have value to their community and they are too good for ganglife.

We hope you will support our efforts in this regard.  In our first year we visited Brimstone Hill Fortress, Fothergill's Village, Mount Liamuiga, Majors Bay, Herbert's Heights and participated in the annual Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Clean Up.  The activities were enjoyable, educational and often challenging.

We learned a lot in this first year, mainly how great these youth are, this youth when given the tools and the opportunity proved themselves capable to accomplish anything they set their minds too.  We also learned that you do not need to have graduate degrees to help a little bit of time is all it takes to make a change in someones life.  The greatest lesson that we learned was how much fun could be had by all.  These youth added greatly to the quality of lives of the chaperons.

In 2011 the goal of the Discovery Club is to grow and continue to make positive contributions to the youth involved and to our communities.  Hopefully, the Discovery Club will become the largest gang in St Kitts & Nevis.
